Parent Fencing Day & Intro to Competition Meeting

Fencing Parent Day!

Saturday, August 11, 2018 10am-11:30am

Every year we host a Parent Fencing Day, which is an opportunity for parents of our fencers to try out the sport themselves, and learn more about what their child is doing.

We begin by giving you an overview of the sport.  We'll have you learn the basic footwork positions & movements such as En Garde, Advance, Retreat, Lunge and Recover.  Then we'll have you learn to hold the fencing weapon, and we'll teach you how to attack (attempt to score a point), and defend (parry).  We will then break parents up into pairs or groups of 3 (depending on the overall number of attendees), and you'll get a chance to use your newly learned fencing moves against each other.

This is a real fun way to meet other parents, and gain a better understanding of the sport your child is playing.

Intro to Fencing Competition Meeting

Saturday August 11, 2018 (11:30am-1pm)
or
Saturday August 25th, 2018 (10am-11:30am)

After the group fencing activity, we will hold a meeting to introduce you to fencing competitions, and explain about required equipment, tournament types and schedules, how to register for events, and a variety of other topics.  This is a very important informational meeting for parents whose child plans to begin competing this season, or may be interested in competing in the future.
